The key to a happy life is somewhat counterintuitive…

Pull yourself away from comfort - pursue purpose, growth, and the struggle.

These days, it’s soooo easy to live a life of relative ease and comfort.

Delicious food, medicine, transportation, controlled environments, entertainment - all the best and most accessible it’s ever been.

Seems like we made it, right?

The world is also experiencing a peak in depression and anxiety.

Many people can see this connection. The easier life gets, it seems there’s an equal and opposite drop in quality of life.

We’re animals that evolved in a dangerous world that provided constant challenge, setback, hardships, and risks.

Challenge isn’t just a nice to have. It’s essential to our thriving as a species, not to mention our mental well-being.

Pull yourself out of your comfort zone - try these:

  • Start having hard conversations with people to resolve conflict and alleviate passive-aggression

  • Track your diet and remove all processed foods for 1 month

  • Implement strength training 2-3 times a week

  • Cold plunge or cold showers each morning

  • Say yes to something that scares you

  • No phones in your bedroom

  • Say no more often

This isn’t to say you’re not working hard (you might actually be working TOO hard).

The question is, what are you working on and is it helping or hurting your growth?

Do the hard thing. Keep going.
